Anne Furnaris
Professional Artist / Doctor in Divinity — College for Creative Studies Alumna.

Anne Furnaris is originally from Romania, a region in Southeastern Europe famed for its ancient and mystical heritage. Romania stands out as the cradle of early European civilization, specifically the historically and anthropologically documented Cucuteni-Trypillian culture. In 1990, guided by what she describes as the invisible Hand of Destiny, Anne fled Communist persecution. From a political camp in Istanbul, Turkey, she and her husband were relocated to the United States. She views her emigration and subsequent naturalization as an act of providence, believing that God and destiny led her to make the USA her new home. Anne earned a degree as an engineer at the University of Galați in 1977.
Driven by a deep passion for the Visual Arts, Anne pursued formal studies at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. From her first year in art college, she began to explore painting and sculpting, incorporating Alchemical-Metaphysical and esoteric symbolism. These symbols, she explains, represent the essence of the Space-Time-World of the Inner Soul and a Nonphysical Universe.
Practice & Exhibitions
Over the years, Anne Furnaris has developed and promoted an Alchemical-Metaphysical Art of the Inner Soul. Her artworks have been exhibited annually in art museums, art clubs, galleries, and centers throughout Michigan, Washington D.C., Turkey (Istanbul and Çorum), Great Britain, and Brazil (Joinville, Santa Catarina), as well as in various international online exhibitions.
Between 1998 and 2006, she served as President of the Metaphysical-Christogrammic Art Center, an esoteric and gnostic organization dedicated to disseminating the Seed of Consciousness — the core of her artistic and spiritual expression.
Artist's Statement — Excerpt
Through the language of symbol, color, and multi-dimensional form, Anne’s art speaks of the true Brotherhood and Sisterhood of humanity. She believes that within the Inner Self of all people shines the spiritual Light of Unity, shaping our collective destiny throughout the universe. Her paintings and sculptures explore esoteric-Gnostic, iconographic, Rosicrucian, and spiritual mysteries that encompass the metaphysical existence of both Man-Soul and Woman-Soul, joined together in a single Image of Creation and Universe.
For Anne, art is not merely a visual phenomenon, but a spiritual manifestation — an instrument for the evolution of consciousness and a means of revealing the immortal, metaphysical dimensions of human life and the universe.
